The intern will collaborate with various teams to transform field experiences into engaging narratives for digital platforms. This internship offers practical experience in communication for development, ethical reporting, and digital storytelling within a UN context. The role is based in Monrovia and may involve field travel to collect stories from UNICEF-supported programs across Liberia. Candidate Requirements: Enrolled in or graduated from a relevant degree program Fluency in written and spoken English Interest in human-interest and development storytelling Ability to conduct interviews and capture experiences Good understanding of social media and digital content Basic photography or video skills Familiarity with content creation tools like Canva or CapCut Strong research, proofreading, and editing skills Ability to communicate sensitively with children Collaborative work ethic Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities Under the supervision of the Communication Officer, the intern will support the identification, collection, development and organization of human-interest stories and social media content that demonstrate UNICEF's programme results and amplify the voices of children, adolescents, families and communities. The intern will work closely with the Communication and Advocacy Section and programme colleagues to transform programme information and field experiences into compelling, accurate and accessible stories for UNICEF's website, social media platforms, donor communications and other communication channels. The internship will also provide practical professional experience in communication for development, digital storytelling, ethical reporting on children and results-based communications within a United Nations environment. For every child, a vision UNICEF Liberia's Communication and Advocacy Section works across programme areas to communicate results for children, amplify the voices and experiences of children, adolescents, families and communities, strengthen public awareness of children's rights, and increase the visibility of UNICEF-supported programmes and partnerships. Effective storytelling is essential to demonstrating how UNICEF's programmes translate into meaningful results for children and communities. Human-interest stories, beneficiary voices, photographs, short-form digital content and social media provide important opportunities to communicate these results in ways that are accessible, engaging and people-centred. With programme activities taking place across multiple sectors and counties, there is a continuing need to systematically identify, collect, develop and publish stories that demonstrate programme results while ensuring that content is produced in accordance with UNICEF's ethical reporting, child safeguarding, consent and branding standards. The Intern will provide dedicated support to the Communication and Advocacy Section in identifying and developing human-interest stories and producing engaging social media content from UNICEF-supported programmes across Liberia. Website and Digital Content Support Expected Outputs During the internship, the intern is expected to contribute to: A regular pipeline of human-interest stories from UNICEF-supported programmes. Draft human-interest stories suitable for publications across various platforms. Short beneficiary profiles, testimonials and quotes for digital communications. Regular social media content supporting programme priorities and advocacy campaigns. Developed content packages from selected field missions and programme activities. Properly organized interview notes, consent information, photographs and supporting materials. Increased availability of programme content that can be used for social media, donor visibility, advocacy and reporting. Improved documentation of the voices and experiences of children, adolescents, families and communities reached through UNICEF-supported programmes.
