About the Liberia Team Partnering with the Ministry of Health since 2007, the Liberia team pioneered the community health worker model that serves as a national blueprint. Originating in the remote Konobo District, their work demonstrated that professional community health workers could drastically increase health-seeking behavior and improve health outcomes, increasing skilled birth attendance from 55% to 84%. Led by Brittney Varpilah , the team champions a supervised, salaried, supplied, and skilled workforce to deliver primary care in the country's hardest-to-reach regions. Beyond delivery, they strengthen health systems through high-level advocacy and policy design while upskilling the workforce through rigorous training and continuous quality improvement. The Role At Last Mile Health, we are all stewards of our reputation and resources. Do you have extensive experience and a proven track record of coordinating county-level health projects, upskilling health workers, and supporting eyeglasses distribution through the National Community Health Assistant (NCHA) Program? If so, then you may be our next Program Coordinator - Near Vision Scale-Up. Building on Liberia's Margibi County pilot and the inclusion of community eye-health services in the National Community Health Policy (2023-2033), the Program Coordinator will help translate the national policy and curriculum on eye health into consistent service delivery across nine counties. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, the Program Coordinator will lead the scale-up of reading glasses distribution to reach approximately 3000,000 people within two years. By leveraging the already financed Community Health Assistants (CHAs) training, the Program Coordinator will work with the MOH and relevant partners to ensure the integration of advocacy, vision Monitoring and Evaluation Systems, and continuous learning as an integrated component of near vision service delivery. Ultimately, the Program Coordinator aims to improve the lives and livelihoods of thousands of Liberians who currently lack access to vision screening and eyeglasses. This position is on-site and based in Monrovia, Liberia, and is only open to candidates who are Liberian nationals currently located in Liberia. Duration: 24 Months What You'll Do Field Implementation and continuous technical support Provide continuous technical support to trained personnel at national, county, district, and community levels to ensure consistent and high-quality implementation. Support National, County, and District stakeholders throughout the distribution process, including planning, implementation, and follow-up. Implement and monitor quality assurance mechanisms across screening and distribution activities, including adherence to clinical protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data accuracy standards. Plan, coordinate, and oversee institution-based near-vision screening activities in Montserrado County, working with MOH, higher learning education institutions, and relevant partners to organize screening, dispensing of reading glasses, referrals, and follow-up. Coordinate the deployment and equitable distribution of near-vision glasses, ensuring efficient logistics and client satisfaction. Training, Supportive Supervision, Monitoring, and Evaluation Coordinate and support refresher training for CHAs to reinforce competencies in near-vision screening, appropriate dispensing of glasses, referral, and adherence to established NCHA eye health protocols. Plan, coordinate, and support quarterly integrated supervision visits to the project implementation counties to assess the quality of near-vision screening and service delivery, referral practices, commodity management, data quality, and adherence to established NCHA Program protocols. Visits will include verification, data validation, quality control, and general oversigh t. In collaboration with the MERL Specialist, support data entry and management using standardized tracking tools to ensure timely, accurate, and complete data capture and facilitate feedback collection and sharing for continuous program improvement. Provide technical support for adaptation and implementation of decision-support tools and their integration into routine workflows and supervision systems. Support implementation-learning, costing and cost modeling, evaluation, and knowledge management activities to inform continuous improvement, sustainability, cost reduction, and future national scale-up. Advocacy, demand generation, and stakeholder coordination Plan and coordinate advocacy activities at the Ministry of Health, Subnational (County Health Teams), district, and community levels to raise awareness and generate demand for near vision glasses among populations in need. Build and maintain strong working partnerships with the Ministry of Health (MoH), County Health Teams, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to sustain the momentum for investment in near vision correction and vision glasses availability.
