SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY The incumbent has no direct supervisory responsibility but provides technical guidance, mentoring, and advisory support to Ministry staff and stakeholders in agribusiness development, value addition, agro-processing, market development, and enterprise development. INTERNAL/ EXTERNAL FUNCTIONAL • Ministry of Agriculture Planning, Technical and Extension RELATIONS Departments • Research institutions • MoA Project Implementation Units • Development partners • Private sector actors • Cooperatives and farmer organizations ISSUANCE DATE August 3, 2026 APPLICATION DEADLINE August 25, 2026, 5:00 p.m. (GMT) POSITION SUMMARY The Value Addition/Agribusiness Specialist provides technical leadership for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring agribusiness, value addition, agro-processing, and agricultural value chain development programs in the assigned region. The position promotes entrepreneurship, market access, post- harvest management, product quality, and enterprise competitiveness by supporting farmers, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and small and medium enterprises. The role strengthens market linkages, promotes value addition technologies, and provides technical guidance to enhance agribusiness development, increase agricultural incomes, generate employment, and improve the competitiveness of agricultural products. GENERAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide leadership, coordination, supervision, and technical oversight for implementing agribusiness, value addition, and agricultural value chain development programs and activities within the assigned region; • Support the Regional Agriculture Coordinator, County Agriculture Coordinators, and District Agriculture Officers in delivering effective and responsive Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) on agribusiness development, value addition, entrepreneurship, and market-oriented agriculture; • Coordinate with Ministry departments, Project Implementation Units (PIUs), research institutions, financial institutions, private sector actors, and development partners to strengthen agribusiness development and agricultural value chain initiatives in the assigned region; • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with farmer organizations, cooperatives, agribusiness enterprises, processors, traders, financial institutions, local authorities, and other stakeholders to promote agricultural commercialization and market development; and • Contribute to preparing and implementing annual work plans, budgets, technical reports, and operational plans related to agribusiness and value chain development programs. • Prepare technical reports, policy briefs, and recommendations for improving national post-harvest systems. b. CORE TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide technical leadership and advisory support for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring agribusiness, value addition, agro-processing, and agricultural value chain development programs within the assigned region. • Conduct value chain analyses, market assessments, and agribusiness opportunity assessments to identify market constraints, investment opportunities, business risks, and interventions that improve the competitiveness and profitability of agricultural enterprises. • Promote value addition through better post-harvest handling, processing, packaging, branding, quality assurance, food safety, product diversification, and compliance with national and international quality standards. • Provide technical support to Ministry of Agriculture County Teams, Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) providers, farmer organizations, cooperatives, agribusiness enterprises, and other stakeholders to strengthen entrepreneurship, business planning, enterprise management, financial literacy, and market access. • Facilitate establishing and strengthening market linkages, contract farming arrangements, business partnerships, public-private partnerships, and access to finance, technologies, agricultural inputs, and business development services
