SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY The incumbent has no direct supervisory responsibility. S/he provides technical guidance, advisory support to the farmer cooperatives, farmer association, and individual farmers. The position supports the adoption of improved crop production technologies, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), climate-smart agriculture, and integrated crop management to enhance productivity, food security, and household incomes. It delivers farmer training, demonstrations, and advisory services. It also collects and manages agricultural data, coordinates with key stakeholders, and supports evidence-based planning and effective agricultural extension service delivery. KEY RESULT AREAS • Crop Extension and Advisory Service Delivery • Promotion of Sustainable Crop Production • Crop Pest and Disease Management • Farmers Capacity Development • Agricultural Information Management and Reporting MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES a. GENERAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: • Implement annual and quarterly work plans to support crop production within the clan. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with crop farmers, producer organizations, cooperatives, local communities, and other stakeholders to strengthen service delivery. • Support the collection, compilation, verification, analysis, and reporting of crop production and extension data to facilitate planning, monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making. • Monitor crop production and extension activities, identify operational challenges, and recommend corrective actions to improve service delivery. • Coordinate crop production programs and extension activities with Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) providers, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders. • Promote collaboration with Clan Livestock Technicians and other extension personnel to strengthen integrated crop-livestock production systems and coordinated agricultural extension service delivery. • Support the implementation of crop development projects, programs, surveys, assessments, and other assigned field activities. 2 • Work closely with the Clan Livestock Technician and other extension personnel to promote integrated crop-livestock farming systems. • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual crop production and extension reports. b. CORE TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide frontline crop extension and advisory services to farmers on improved production practices for priority food and cash crops. • Promote adoption of improved crop production technologies, including certified seed varieties, Good Agricultural Practices, climate-smart agriculture, integrated soil fertility management, efficient water management, and other sustainable crop production practices. • Plan and facilitate farmer demonstrations, Farmer Field Schools (FFS), field days, training sessions, and awareness campaigns to strengthen farmers' technical knowledge, skills, and use of improved agricultural technologies. • Support the distribution and promotion of certified seeds, planting materials, and other approved agricultural inputs. • Collect, verify, maintain, and update data on crop production, farmer participation, extension activities, pest and disease occurrence, agricultural inputs, and other relevant information using approved data collection and reporting systems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION a. Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, General Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related discipline from a recognized institution. b. Past work Experience: Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in crop production, agricultural extension, agronomy, or rural agricultural development. c.
