Tubman University (TU) is a public and the only university in southeastern Liberia. TU offers degree programs in six colleges: Agriculture and Food Science, Education, Health Sciences, Business and Administration, Engineering and Technology, and Arts and Sciences. As part of an effort to strengthen the operational efficiency of the University, William V. S. Tubman University is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Climate Lab Manager/Environmental Science Instructor within the College of Arts and Sciences. Position Summary: The Climate Lab Manager/Environmental Science Instructor will serve as both an academic leader and operational manager, responsible for advancing climate research and delivering high-quality environmental science education. This position ensures the Climate Lab functions as a hub for innovation, policy-relevant research, and community engagement, while also fostering student learning and capacity building. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: The successful candidate shall possess at least a Master degree in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Ecology, or related field with a Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in climate research, environmental science, or lab management. The successful candidate provides track record in supervising research projects and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. He/she shall demonstrated teaching experience at university or college level. He/she shall ensure adherence to environmental regulations, ethical standards, and institutional policies. Ability to instruct in various teaching methods, assessment strategies, and classroom management techniques. Duties and Responsibilities: Teach a maximum of three courses Conduct research; Develop and implement instructional plans per semester; Develop excellent course syllabus materials; conduct other sessions as may be required; Conduct reliable and timely evaluation of student performances; Participate in full staff and team meetings, workshops, seminars and contribute to scholarly works at the University; Develop and implement a 5-year Climate Lab strategy Align research priorities with national climate policies and international frameworks Supervise design, execution, and peer review of climate-related studies. Maintain a centralized climate data repository. Ensure open access to research outputs for stakeholders. Conduct annual training for staff, students, and stakeholders. Represent the Climate Lab in national and international climate forums. Build collaborations with universities, NGOs, and donors. Advocate for evidence-based climate policies. Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, donor requirements, and environmental regulations. Maintain laboratory safety standards and ethical research practices. Perform other tasks as may be assigned to you by your supervisor, the Dean, and VPAA. Skills/Abilities Advanced knowledge of climate science, environmental systems, and sustainability. Proficiency in climate modeling, GIS, and data analysis tools. Ability to design and conduct laboratory and field-based experiments. Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance standards. Skilled in curriculum development for environmental science and climate studies. Ability to deliver engaging lectures and practical lab sessions. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Capacity to represent the institution in national and international climate forums.
