Western Region University Fatorma Compound Tubmanburg, Bomi County Liberia, West Africa OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT Vacancy Announcement No.: WRU/2026/003 POSITION: CHIEF INTERNAL AUDITOR (DIRECTOR OF INTERNAL AUDIT) Application Deadline: August 18, 2026 The Administration of Western Region University (WRU), located at Fatorma Compound in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, invites applications from qualified, experienced, and highly ethical professionals for the position of Chief Internal Auditor, also designated Director of Internal Audit. The Chief Internal Auditor will provide independent assurance and advisory services to strengthen governance, risk management, internal control, compliance, and operational efficiency. The position reports functionally to the Board of Trustees through the appropriate Board or Audit Committee and administratively to the President, thereby safeguarding the independence of the Internal Audit Function. Major duties include developing the Internal Audit Strategy and annual risk-based audit plans; auditing financial management, procurement, payroll, human resources, academic administration, student financial services, information technology, fixed assets, research grants, capital projects, revenue collection, and compliance; evaluating internal controls; monitoring audit recommendations; investigating suspected fraud and financial misconduct; submitting quarterly and annual reports; supervising audit staff; and coordinating external audit engagements. Applicants must possess a master's degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. Professional certification such as CIA, ACCA, CPA, CISA, or an equivalent is strongly preferred. Candidates must have at least seven years of progressively responsible auditing experience, including at least three years in a senior audit leadership role, with demonstrated experience in internal control, governance, and risk management. Experience in higher education, the public sector, donor- funded projects, enterprise risk management, information systems auditing, or Audit Committee reporting is an advantage. The Student Counselor will report to the Vice President for Student Affairs and provide confidential individual and group counseling, promote student wellness and mental health, and help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment. Major duties include student orientation on stress management, study skills, and personal development; crisis intervention and referrals; support for at-risk students; workshops on personal growth, conflict resolution, substance-abuse prevention, and career readiness; confidential recordkeeping; and support for student retention and graduation initiatives. Applicants must possess a master's degree in Counseling, Guidance and Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field from a recognized university, together with at least three years of relevant professional counseling experience, preferably in higher education. Professional registration or licensure, where applicable, is an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, crisis-intervention and conflict-resolution skills, ethical judgment, confidentiality, computer literacy, and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. The duty station is Tubmanburg, Bomi County. Salary will commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience under the University's approved salary structure, and the successful candidate is expected to begin work as soon as possible.
