Background Liberia is at a critical juncture in addressing the persistent and multifaceted challenges faced by its children. Despite notable policy reforms and national frameworks to combat violence against children (VAC), issues such as sexual and gender-based violence, child labor, harmful practices, and weak enforcement mechanisms remain prevalent. The 2024 Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Bogotá, Colombia, served as a pivotal platform for the Government of Liberia to reaffirm its commitment to protecting children and eradicating VAC by 2030. Liberia's national preparatory process supported by UNICEF and WHO included inclusive consultations with children, civil society, and government actors. Notably, children themselves, through the Liberia National Children's Representative Forum, actively participated in formulating recommendations and shaping Liberia's national pledge. Now that Liberia has submitted its national commitments and signed the Global Call to Action, it is vital that children who were instrumental in the preparatory process are updated, engaged, and included in the way forward.
